Antioxidants
Compounds from plant foods, including beta-carotene, vitamin C, and bioflavonoids, fight off cell attacking free radicals or the unstable molecules your body produces when it’s exposed to environmental toxins. Antioxidants are most concentrated in the skin of fruits and veggies, so look for rich-colored produce, which indicates high antioxidant levels. There are many forms of antioxidants with different effects on your body, so include a variety of fruits and veggies in your diet.

Aquaculture
The cultivation of the natural produce of water, such as fish, shellfish and aquatic plants.

Aquaponics
Refers to a system that combines aquaculture (the raising of aquatic animals like fish, snails, or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In normal aquaculture, waste from the animals raised accumulates in the water, increasing toxicity. In an aquaponic system, water from an aquaculture system is fed into a hydroponic system in which waste is broken down by bacteria and utilized by plants as nutrients. The water is then recirculated back to the aquaculture system.

Aromatherapy 
Is a form of alternative medicine that uses fragrant extracted oils made from flowers, wood, and herbs for therapeutic benefits. These concentrated oils are breathed in (inhaled) and can also be used as a lotion for massages and aromatic baths. It is an alternative therapy that has been going on for centuries and is still used worldwide today to help improve psychological and physical wellness. Different concentrated oils (natural essences) can be mixed and blended to make a combination for various specific needs.

Astringent
Causes skin tissue to contract, so good for toning skin frankincense, geranium, juniper, peppermint, rose, rosemary
