More reliable than the expensive ones!

Having needed a new wire detector as my previous ( similar to this) had finally died, I decided to try one of the more expensive ones. This was soon returned as being too unreliable and I went for this one, so much better! -
Ok for electrical cables, rubbish for finding studs

Used to find cables channel in wall under plaster, I knew there is a cable somewhere as I had seen it before re-plastering in our kitchen but could not find it, it was possibly too deep, it did find the more obvious ones, but some times took several scans before alerting. I was also trying to find the joists in a plasterboard ceiling, tried tapping and everything sounded hollow, so tried to use the detector and it seemed that everything was a stud, tried on a stud wall, hollow doors, and my hand, just alerts to everything. And yes I did carefully follow the instructions.
