I have only ever used the free 7-function multimeters from HarborFreight. Despite battery changes, over time they have broken. I cant complain about free, but I havent seen that offer for quite some time. So, I purchased this multimeter to diagnosis a broken freezer. I isolated the issue using the audible continuity function and replaced the malfunctioning part, and the freezer now works. The cost of the multimeter and replacement part for the freezer together were significantly cheaper than a repair service call alone. Thats a win as far as Im concerned. I had a Centech model P37772 as a spare multimeter. It had a 9V battery which lasted a long time, even when I forgot to turn the meter off. The only irritating thing was that I had to remove the whole back to change the battery. When it started giving me problems after 10 years of use, I decided it was time to purchase a new one. Harbor Freight had the P37772 advertised online, but the store only had the Centech model 61593, a newer model with almost the same face and features. The 61593 though, has a small battery compartment with a single screw, making it quick and easy to switch batteries.
